The Ocean's Future is in Our Hands

The Clearwater Horizons Project (CWHP) recognises that not all ocean pollution begins at sea.
A significant proportion of marine plastics originate on land, often entering rivers and waterways before ultimately reaching the ocean.
That’s why CWHP is extending its reach to include riverside and waterside construction projects of every scale: from large civil engineering works such as bridges, roads and flood defences to housing developments, ports and coastal infrastructure.

By adopting CWHP’s waste management principles of Retain, Return and Recycle construction companies can ensure that plastics, packaging and other site-generated waste are captured before they enter nearby waterways.

Participation demonstrates environmental leadership, strengthens ISO 14001 compliance and contributes directly to reducing the flow of waste from rivers to the sea.
Together, the offshore industry and the construction sector can complete the circle, preventing pollution from one of its sources and protecting the health of our rivers, estuaries and oceans for future generations.
